One of our goals as a local Chamber is to be a collective voice for businesses in the Greater Golden Area. We represent businesses of all sizes, in all industries, and in all stages of development. The Chamber actively participates on boards and in groups that make decisions affecting our member businesses. We also do our best to communicate issues that affect our members so they also can take active roles, as applicable. We will continue to update this page as needed in chronological order with some of the advocacy work we do that affects the most businesses. If you have any questions, or you have an issue that we might be able to help you with, please let us know at [email protected].
April, 2026: The Golden Chamber of Commerce signed on in support of Senate Bill 137. This bipartisan bill creates more robust standards and criteria for how state agencies review existing regulations. This is priority legislation in 2026 for the Colorado Chamber of Commerce because of its dramatic effect on most businesses. You can read more details about the bill and follow its progress through the Colorado legislature through the link below.
March 24, 2026: The Golden Chamber of Commerce invited a representative from the Sundance Institute to the City of Golden Community Marketing Board to talk about the international Sundance Film Festival coming to Boulder in January of 2027. This will affect Golden businesses in terms of traffic and transportation, increased need for lodging, workforce competition, and heightened general tourism. The festival has been held in Park City, Utah, for 41 years and chose Boulder as its new home for the next decade. This year's festival in Park City brought 85-thousand attendees with a $196-mllion dollar economic impact to the region. Sundance Institute's Jeff Levine said that traditionally two-thirds of attendees have come from in-state. Boulder has changed some of its home rental policies to accommodate the festival, but Levine anticipates lodging needs in Golden, as well. You can watch the full presentation at this link and the Sundance portion is from 4:40 - 42:40. If you have questions, you can reach out directly at [email protected].
March 12, 2026: The Colorado Chamber of Commerce announced bipartisan legislation that creates more robust standards and criteria for how state agencies review existing regulations. Senate Bill 137 is sponsored by leadership from both parties in the House and Senate, including Senate President James Coleman, Senate Minority Leader Cleave Simpson, House Speaker Julie McCluskie and House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell.
SB 137 is the Colorado Chamber’s priority legislation for 2026 following several years of reports and studies indicating the impact state-level regulations are having on the business community. The latest Chamber report revealed that Colorado is still the sixth most regulated state in the nation, experiencing 2.4% growth in regulations from 2024-25.
“A balanced and effective regulatory system is essential to a strong economy, but an increasingly complex regulatory environment continues to make it harder for employers to grow and create jobs,” said Colorado Chamber President and CEO Loren Furman. “This legislation takes a pragmatic approach to regulatory reform, ensuring regulations work as intended for employers, workers and consumers alike. Greater transparency and accountability in the rulemaking process will help protect jobs, strengthen our economy and improve Colorado’s long-term competitiveness.”
